My Outline:
My Philosophy:
I have
to think that the banking model of education is inefficient. We could become more
efficient by inheriting Freire’s philosophies and implementing a praxis model in
education.
Paulo Friere states that: The more students
work at storing the deposits entrusted to them, the less they develop the
critical consciousness which would result from their intervention in the world
as transformers of that world.
How does the current structure
support and negate critical consciousness?

Children are in class for 55 minutes? Is that
right I don’t think so.
I would encourage you to think about planning for a week, rather than in a fifty minute chunk. That might open up some new territories.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that you are aligning more closely to Delpit than Freire. If this is true, than you would not be a fan of Praxis at all. Take this up more concretely. Time is one issue, but you seem to be gesturing toward the notion of taking up the culture of power. Position this within Freire to illuminate out differences.
